Another HOT sale today! Butcher cows were higher than anticipated with an extra packer buyer on the scene! Today, 732 KILL COWS were sold at the sale!!Kill bulls were steady- as per usual. Heavy feeders were very aggressive with some 950 wt. steers reaching over the 1.05! Calves are selling, not in big numbers yet but are seeing an o.k. market. By this I mean, the producer is still not getting his costs out of his cows. Wednesdays Special Cow Calf Sale was pretty good with the good quality, younger end, solid colored cows with April calves reaching over the $1300!! At todays sale, the pairs were only bringing "split price" i.e. what the cow is worth to kill plus the value of the calf.
Were seeing more cattle coming in that are age verified. I guess that''s good except nobody is really sure why we''re doing it!!!?
